About Dr. Holtgreive

Dr. James Holtgreive

Dr. Holtgreive was born in Toledo, Ohio. He received his Bachelor of Science and dental degrees from the University of Detroit. He served two years in the Navy and practiced for a short time in the Detroit area. He moved his practice downtown in 1981, and is currently the only dental office in the immediate downtown area.

He is past president of the Kalamazoo Valley Dental Society. He has been active on many local and state committees including peer review and public relations. He received the Edgar A. Honey Award in 2001, an honor awarded by the dental society for outstanding service to the dental profession and to the people of Kalamazoo. His civic commitments include membership in the Downtown Rotary Club, Torch Club and the Downtown Kalamazoo Incorporated Parking Committee. He is a past president of the Catholic Family Services Board and a past member of the Hackett Catholic Central School Board. He has always had an interest in art, which may explain his particular interest in cosmetic restorative dentistry.

Dr. Holtgreive is also active in the dental professional community, holding memberships with the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Kalamazoo Valley Dental Society and the Bunting Periodontal Study Club. He also supports various charitable organizations including the Salvation Army, Casa Amparo, a girl’s shelter and United Way. He and his wife, Jan, have five children and 13 grandchildren.
